Cosmetics are those products whose main function is to improve the general appearance of our body, whether on the skin, nails, hair, etc., and whose application is purely superficial. The FDA has defined the concept of a cosmetic as "an article intended to be rubbed, poured on, sprayed or atomized, inserted or otherwise applied to the human body to cleanse, beautify, enhance attractiveness or modify appearance."

The first thing we should know is that in cosmetics, there is the field of regulation, which is usually the most forgotten, but many of the cosmetic myths are resolved simply by taking a look at it. This allows us to understand what can, should and should not be done when developing a cosmetic.
Within the European and American cosmetic regulations, there is no regulation specially developed for natural or organic cosmetics, however, there are certifications such as COSMOS that guarantee green and safe practices for the consumer and the environment. However, the absence of an official definition of "natural or organic cosmetics" by international regulatory bodies such as the FDA, has been criticized by many stakeholders in this branch, and in turn, a challenge for those of us dedicated to its manufacture.
That is why on November 4, 2021, Sean Patrick Maloney, a member of the United States House of Representatives, presented the Natural Cosmetics Act to the FDA, which imposes the FDA's duty to create definitions as ingredients. natural'' or ''naturally derived'' that will allow the establishment of strong and transparent standards for the production of natural cosmetics for personal care.
As has been commented, private companies such as ECOCERT allow their clients to obtain international (COSMOS) or private (ECOCERT) certifications that guarantee organic production and processing procedures, development under the concept of green chemistry, responsible use of natural resources, among others , being currently one of the most reliable certification references for organic cosmetics worldwide.
On the web, there are many concepts associated with the terms of natural and organic cosmetics, however, we have made a compilation to synthesize all this information and put you in context regarding their differences:
NATURAL COSMETICS
A natural cosmetic is one whose composition consists of 90 to 95% naturally derived ingredients, these ingredients must present prior certification from companies that are in charge of corroborating that their synthesis process meets the necessary standards. However, the remaining 5 to 10% of the ingredients are also regulated, rigorously restricting the use of some ingredients such as silicone or PEG.
ORGANIC COSMETICS
An organic cosmetic meets the same definition in terms of percentage, what differentiates it from natural cosmetics is that the ingredients associated with said percentage must originate from organic agriculture, with the same restrictions on the remaining percentage.
Regarding vegetable cosmetics , what differs from organic cosmetics and natural cosmetics is that within its formulation, there is not a single component derived from animals, such as lanolin, a wax produced by the sebaceous glands of some mammals, than in natural cosmetics if it is accepted.

We believe that the procedure involved in the development of a cosmetic must meet certain criteria such as sustainability, for example, taking care of natural and human exploitation, as well as the meticulous selection of raw materials, free of origin and/or animal abuse. - Most of our products have organic, natural and/or vegetable ingredients certified by the supplier companies in a range of 80 to 90%.
- Petroleum derived ingredients such as Vaseline or paraffin are NOT used in our formulations. Nor any ingredient whose use is suspected to be harmful to health.
- Our formulations are paraben free. Failing that, we use natural preservatives such as benzoic acid, an organic acid found in very small amounts in fruits such as blueberries or raspberries.
- The manufacturing procedures of our products take care of the environment.
- Our products are not tested on animals.
